For a short period, during the Age of Aquarius, companies took on iconic names: Virgin; Tower; Apple (and that was not just any old apple, either, but the apple). Maybe Amazon can be included among these.
But what are big companies called these days? Google, Twitter, Yahoo, Bling, Facebook, Zynga, E-Bay.
If one takes for granted that a corporation’s moniker is designed to attract customers and investors – or, at least, not to turn them off – what do these infantile corporate names say about us?
