Fifty years from now, when the Bureau begins to release its 21st century ephemera, we’ll learn whether the Shakespearean tradition persisted into our times. (Fifty years seems like forever unless we are able, like the French are doing these days in indulging their fondness for the latest celebrity abstractions, we look at it in terms of the longue durée.)
Given the breakdown of American liberal education, I would have assumed that people in today’s FBI would be as crippled by cultural amnesia as any other graduates of the Class of 1983-or-so and beyond. However, an anonymous source has provided the Drapers Guild with one page of the FBI’s latest PIWE (pre-induction written examination).
As you can see, the Shakespearean tradition at the FBI is alive and well.
